How Amazon Retail Business Services Group used Venturesity’s platform to qualify suitable candidates.
As an integral part of the Amazon online product lifecycle and buying operations, Amazon Retail Business Services Group (RBS) is looking for smart people to work on challenging problems. To find these candidates, RBS leveraged Venturesity’s reach and platform to source and qualify candidates for further follow-up interviews.
About Amazon Retail Business Services Group (RBS)
The RBS group is an integral part of Amazon online product lifecycle and buying operations. The team is designed to ensure Amazon remains competitive in the online retail space with the best price, wide selection and good product information. The team’s primary role is to create and enhance retail selection on the worldwide Amazon online catalog. The tasks handled by this group have a direct impact on customer buying decisions and online user experience.
The RBS group is looking to hire at scale. With limited resources to source and qualify candidates, the process of hiring even a single candidate takes weeks. They also have a very high talent bar. The team needs to find a faster way to both source and screen candidates to achieve their goals.
Launched in 2013, Venturesity’s mission is to help connect great talent with the best companies. Initially, they focused on the tech sector but have recently branched out into other domains. The Amazon Retail Business Operations Challenge is one of Venturesity’s first such forays.
Retail Business Operations Challenge: Candidate Sourcing
Venturesity and Amazon Retail Business Services Group teamed up to host the Retail Business Operations Challenge. Qualified candidates would have to analyze a given case study about business operations. Following this, they would have to face two more rounds of interviews before getting hired.
Due to Venturesity’s reach, nearly 2,000 candidates registered for the challenge.
Retail Business Operations Challenge: Candidate Qualification
The RBS group needed to screen the large number of registrations. This is where the power of Venturesity’s platform came to bear fruit. With an online qualification round, Venturesity managed to screen out irrelevant profiles.
About 700 candidates took the online screening test. Following this, Venturesity and the RBS group were able to qualify 150 candidates for the case study round, and other rounds of interviews.
The online screening test managed to whittle down the field to 150 qualified candidates. With the power of Venturesity’s platform, the field will be shortened further. The Retail Business Operations Challenge has shown that an online screening test followed by a physical challenge that simulates real-life on the job problems will produce great results.
