A Very Brief Intro to Deep Learning

DeepLearning

You remember movies like 2001: A Space Odyssey? In which spacecraft were run by supremely intelligent machines? But 2001 has come and gone, and we still don’t have our HALs. (Perhaps that might be a good thing!)

I have a feeling though, that things may change. Advances in AI are increasing. Not just in terms of hardware, but in terms of software too. This brings me to the main point of this post.

Deep Learning is a new and exciting area of Machine Learning. It harks back to the main goal of Machine Learning: True Artificial Intelligence. While it’s true that we’ve made huge advances in the past (e.g. Deep Blue beating Kasparov etc.), this era may see the full power of AI unleashed.

The Singularity is coming, folks. Here’s a link to resources that may help you, dear reader, to usher this in much faster.

Enjoyed going through these links? Now it’s time to apply what you’ve learned. Take part in our IBM initiative and show us your creations. Please note, this is for college students ONLY. But for the more experienced folks, check out our web page for challenges related to AI and Deep Learning!
