Go International with Pears Program for Global Innovation’s #Med4Dev Hack

Venturesity is going international! We have partnered with the mega Med4Dev Hackathon that’s being organized in three cities in India and one in Israel. The event comes with a worthy cause attached to it. Held in Hyderabad (we are going to focus on this hack in this post), Bangalore, Mumbai and Tel Aviv, the hackathons will unfold during the end of July. And it looks to bring engineers, innovators, medical professionals, and entrepreneurs together to come up with technological solutions for healthcare challenges in India.

But why Israel or India, you ask? Well, the whole purpose is to build a bridge between the innovative ecosystems of both these countries. It’s a well-known fact that Israel has earned its place at the top of the pack when it comes to startups. In the healthcare segment alone the country has over 1000 startups. On the other hand, India too has made giant strides in innovation. We seem to have a great knack for converting our meager economic resources and turning them into something useful for our expansive population. The event will seek to generate ideas and products for the healthcare space that help consumers in the low and lower-middle class base.

Your team (with not more than 4 members) can start off by applying here. Please note, that you can also participate as an individual. Once you have been shortlisted, we’ll invite you to participate in the hack. The Hyderabad hack starts off at noon on July 22, 2016, and stretches to 10 p.m. on 23, July. At the event, you will have to tackle any of the problem statements that are presented to you. To give you a heads up and really encourage you to think of life-saving solutions, we have shared the problem statements here.

To ensure that the event attracts the best minds, the Pears Program has announced big prizes. Winning teams will take home a cash prize of INR 1 lakh. You will also bag a 45-day mentoring package that will see you work with leading investors and kickass mentors to develop your product. Then, as an entrepreneur, you will also make a trip to Tel Aviv to participate in the prestigious DLD Innovation Conference. A win here will also give you an opportunity to be placed in one of the friendliest acceleration programs and also pitch your idea in front of the best VCs in India.
