The most awaited hack of the season, HaCareem drove its way through Bangalore last weekend! This Dubai-based ride-hailing app company had a massive opening with over 130 attendees at the hackathon. Their vision was modest: build an inspiring world-class organization that aims to simplify people’s lives. HaCareem was a callout to the brightest tech magicians to help them build the future of the transportation industry.
Our marshmallow ritual kicked things off and innovative ideas kept bubbling throughout the day. Amidst the burst of music, exhilaration and some amazing food, hackers transformed their thoughts into actions. The rhapsody of the hack can be adjudged by the fact that there were 119 submissions out of 130! What happened next? –The final showdown. The degree of the hack ideas was steaming high and the tension was intense. The victors finally marched their way to glory with cash awards of whooping amounts.
So let us take a moment to applaud these path breaking hack ideas.
Team Rydo won the hearts with their project ‘Book-a-ride’. Team members Harsh Vardhan, Faizan Malik, Khayali Jain
proudly held their hefty check of USD 1000! Their hack idea goes something like this,” One of the goals we strive towards at Careem is creating a perfect booking experience for our Customers- extremely reliable ETAs, accurate locations, best Captains and so on. So they built a ride dispatching platform that collects location updates from ‘drivers on the move’ to later be used as data to dispatch the best driver to a customer booking a ride.
Team Born2win won the first runners up for their project ‘Rydo’. Team members Rishabh Sood , Aakash Jindal, Naveen Nahata took away USD 600 for their commendable efforts. Careem’s vision is to become the biggest mover of people and goods across MENA. In this sphere, a major challenge is around the logistics of delivering shipments to customers. So they built a platform that can work with commerce companies who need a shipment delivery service. It was a B2B platform where commerce companies can request quotations for their shipments and the platform will look into its transportation resources to find the most cost-effective and reliable way to deliver shipments. For inter-city shipment delivery, the platform can work with partners to deliver the shipments through trains, flights and trucks if required.
The judges couldn’t conclude on a second runner’s up so we had two instead. Team Geeky Girls and Tourist won the prize for their projects ‘Make commerce happen’ and ‘Book a ride’ respectively. The prize of USD 400 was split among the two for their great endeavors. Exalted winners, some happy faces and cheers wrapped up the day with a great sense of admiration for Careem. HaCareem was a massive success – thank you all for attending! We wish them the best and more such events in India with us. Careem rode the roads of India in style with Venturesity with a promise to be back ‘coz the movie ain’t over yet!
