VentureHack Success Diaries

Our innovative online hiring event, Venturehack Online Challenge took place on Thursday, November 13, 2014. with 45 students from IIIT Allahabad participating. This 24 hour event was quite challenging, and those students who came through were extremely talented coders. We had 17 submissions, and we graded them based on predefined criteria such as code quality, correctness and efficiency.

At the end of the grading process, 3 candidates were shortlisted, and at the time of this writing, several more are in the pipeline.

In particular, Mohammed Ahmed was shortlisted by Tapcibo, one of our hiring partners. Tapcibo, an on demand lunch service, was looking for android developers to work on their app, but could not find any suitable candidate. So, they approached us, and through the challenge that acted as a filtering process, we were able to find a candidate that fulfilled their requirements.

According to Monica Rastogi, the cofounder of Tapcibo,  “Big thanks to Venturesity [sic] for helping us recruit an intern, We being a startup are always running short of time. Thanks to their challenge that filters the candidates.  It was easier for us to interview the shortlisted candidates and we were successfully able to port one candidate from Allahabad to Bangalore.”

The success of the event stands as testimony to our philosophy, and we are encouraged to hold more of these online internship coding challenges.
